Brian Tamaki told his audience what he feels New Zealand is getting wrong, and who is to blame.

Awaaz February 1, 2026

Brian Tamaki took the microphone at 'True Patriots of NZ' protest in Auckland on Saturday and delivered a sprawling monologue in which racial prejudices kept leaking. We heard his nearly 37-minute-long speech so you can scan the highlights without committing an afternoon.

The leader of the Destiny Church, a homegrown cult that espouses a conservative Christian worldview and promotes nativism, had been exhorting his supporters for days to converge on Victoria Park on January 31 to make a statement against what he described as dilution of Kiwi and Christian values.

If you’re short on time but curious about his message, here's a pick of 10 themes he touched upon.

PS: Many of these claims ostensibly won't pass the test of data and history (perhaps also civil propriety).

Law-abiding love

He addressed criticism that his style can be obtrusive and threatening. "Don't worry, I'm a law keeper, a law abiding citizen and I'm non-violent. I love people. I love you all. I love Indians, I love the Chinese, I love the pro-Palestinian marches, I love the anti-semitics. I love those who hate me, there ain't a bone in my body that hates them. I pray for my haters thank you so much."

Christian nations (like New Zealand) are under attack

"We're here today because our country's in trouble. New Zealand is in dire straits. It's dangerous and the people of New Zealand don't quite understand what's going on...we see this happening in every English-speaking western democracy, starting from the United Kingdom around to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and others of the part of the Commonwealth countries.

"I can tell you right now they are struggling with the same invasion and the same dangerous attack on our Christian countries...the attack on those people who had a culture and an identity that was uniquely ours... they want to take it all away; and not only attack Christianity and attack western democracies, they want to replace you, they want to take you out, so that they can take the countries that we used to have at the height of our belief in God."

Second-richest era

"During the 1960s, believe it or not, I want to tell you this we were one of the richest countries in the world and the 60s, we New Zealand, was the richest second country behind the United States of America...over 90 per cent of New Zealand were Christians, or believed in the Christian values, so there was only one per cent unemployment. Crime was almost non-existent."

Helen Clark did no good

"Starting from Helen Clark's regime...they took away our values, our Christian values, our Christian ethics, and she did it deliberately knowing that she was going to introduce communism and socialism to this country. She even declared from a political point of view and got a vote of hands in Parliament at that time, and said that New Zealand has no longer official religion. In other words, she canceled Christianity out..."

Muslim and "Indian-sounding" names

"They have to tell us they're gonna bring out the whole enforcement squad...ask Naila Hassan and also Sandip Patel...Sandip Patel is the senior police officer in central Auckland. So here we have two Kiwis; uh, sorry, Sandip Patel and Naila Hassan, I don't think they're Kiwi names.

"You might be saying, 'Oh, come on Brian. Don't be naughty." I'm not being naughty. Do you think it's just an accident that we happen to be here today and we've been dictated to by a hard-out Muslim and also an Indian? Now, I don't want to put them in a precarious position but I want to expose to the Kiwi public...Do you know what happened yesterday? Islam told Christianity you cannot march across the bridge. That's right, it was Islam telling Christianity in its own country what it can do and can't do. The enemy is already within our system."

Paradise versus parasites

"...Save this country from a takeover from Indians, who have come here (I'm not blaming them, I'll give you the blame in a moment) who have come to this country through open borders and mass numbers. I'm not opposed to immigration if you come in on the right standards, which we don't even have standards...

"Luxon, Seymour and Peters have allowed this to continue on without saying anything until it gets to election time when some of these parties want to get your vote but they've allowed this wreckage to come in. It is irresponsible, it is unhealthy, it is absolutely evil that paradise is now infested with parasites. If I don't say it straight, people misunderstand me."

Business crime claims

"I'm going to tell it as it is. They're (migrants) buying up businesses with no intention of hiring Kiwis. They're hiring their own, they are farming out cheap labour and, unfortunately, some New Zealand companies and industries are hiring cheap labour at the expense of Kiwis wanting to come in at least at a minimum wage...

"We have them committing crimes. They corrupted our political system out at Papatoetoe, where they committed fraud in an election process...430 plus Indian drivers had false drivers licenses, and what does the New Zealand government do...says, 'Oh, you shouldn't have done that, that's not right. Come back in here, and we'll give you a license that is valid'...

"They take into our streets now in large numbers, they're beginning to celebrate their religions on the streets with swords, with daggers and axes, given exemption by the New Zealand government, and even don't have to wear a helmet on their motorbikes scooting around town more than 50K an hour."

Immigrant vote courting

"What they've (political parties) been doing is selling our country out, and you out, for  immigrant votes. There are over 350,000 immigrant votes and probably more...that's why you see Luxon worshipping on the ground with a red dot on his head, so badly wanting their votes he goes over to India to all of those gods and those idols and he bows down.

"Have you ever seen a prime minister from a country put on a dot on his head and put on the garb and go into a temple and worship their gods? You've got to be kidding me. you've got to be kidding me. Labour did the same thing. They've all courted the immigrant vote and that immigrant vote is that large now that it is actually deciding the destiny and the future of New Zealand. Kiwis are no longer deciding their future..."

Modi visa warning

"...Modi has sucked in Peters, he sucked in Seymour, and he sucked in Luxon by promising all of this free trade stuff. But on the other end of it we're getting killed by opening the doors to visas for students to come in now, and for you to come in and have a temporary work visa that you can bring all your family, all your sick relatives, your old ones...

"...bring them in here to pressure our health system, bring them in here to pressure our job market, bring them all in here and pressure our housing situation, bring them in and all here so the price...the GDP just gets out of control and you can't afford to buy butter, meat, milk and everyday groceries for families to live."

Airport identity shock

"When they (tourists from western countries) come to New Zealand, they come to customs, they think they got the wrong plane, because they are in India, because all the custom officers are Indians. Then another plane comes in, 'Oh, I can't hardly wait to experience the Kiwi culture." Trouble is, they're greeted with Chinese and all these third world country people around them. When I arrive at that airport, I think I'm coming to another country."
